Frequently Asked Questions

What are those ugly black lines around the baseboards and under doorways?

If you have light colored carpet, you may have experienced these dark lines that appear on the carpet. This soiling is called filtration soiling because it comes from air passing through the carpet as it is attempting to get through the crack between the carpet and the baseboard or under a closed door. As the air passes through the edge of the carpet pile, this microscopic soiling is deposited there (hence the term filtration soiling). This occurs over a significant period of time and is not noticed until a build up has occurred.

This type of soiling is difficult to remove because the soil particles are so fine that they penetrate deep into the carpet pile, sometimes into the backing of the carpet. Can it be removed? Sometimes. With special products, time and effort, reasonable results can sometimes be achieved. To help prevent filtration soiling, vacuum and wipe the edges of the carpeting on a regular basis. Be careful around the tack strip on the edge of the carpeting, it could nick your fingers.

What is the proper way to mop my tile or stone floors?

Whether you have natural stone or ceramic or porcelain tile, it is easy to do  and effective just follow Ron’s Recipe for Success! First make sure you vacuum your floors, remember we live in Arizona so we have lots of abrasive hard particle soils. Do Not sweep, the lowest part of your floor is your grout joint, this makes a dust pan, so when you mop this will make your beautiful grout muddy! Next make sure that you have a neutral P.H. stone or tile cleaner, this will safely and effectively clean your floors without leaving residue behind. NO vinegar. This will etch your gorgeous natural stone and harm your grout joints over time. Mix the neutral cleaner with water. Then with  micro fiber mop and mop heads start wherever you like. To minimize cross-contamination of your floors I recommend having 1 mop head for every 100 sq ft. So if you have 1000 sq ft you will need 10. They are reusable and will last years. We can order them for you if you like. At no time will you ever dip a used mop head in your solution, your water will always be clean. When finished just toss them in the washer with detergent but without fabric softener this will make them less absorbent. Then dry them and next week repeat the easy process. I have found by following my Ron’s Recipe for success you floors will stay cleaner much longer and you shine will be incredible.
